Treatment of infections in the respiratory tract (bronchitis, pneumonia) and urogenital tract (cystitis, gonorrhea)
This medication is used to treat respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, and pulmonary abscess, effectively acting against various bacteria. It is also effective for treating urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, and sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea. Additionally, it is used for skin and soft tissue infections such as boils, abscesses, cellulitis, and wound infections, as well as osteomyelitis and dental infections. It aids in improving the patient’s condition by treating a wide range of bacterial infections.
For mild to moderate infections such as recurrent tonsillitis, upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections, the dosage is 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg body weight, divided into two doses daily. For severe infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, lower respiratory infections like bronchopneumonia, and urinary tract infections, the dosage is 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg body weight, divided into two doses daily, minimizing potential gastrointestinal intolerance.
The 7:1 syrup is not suitable for children under 2 months old. Children with renal failure should not use the 7:1 syrup. The dosage should be divided into two doses per day based on weight in kg.
This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin-type drugs. Patients who have had severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome in the past should exercise caution when using this medication. Additionally, patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at risk of increased rashes and should be monitored closely. It should be safely avoided in patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice due to the risk of recurrence. This medication contains lactose and is unsuitable for patients with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or other hereditary metabolic disorders. Patients with liver dysfunction should use this medication cautiously, as it may worsen liver function. Patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment may experience elevated blood levels of the drug and should be monitored carefully with adjusted dosing intervals. Patients with allergic tendencies, the elderly, patients in poor general condition, or those who have difficulty with oral intake should be cautious as they may be at risk for side effects such as vitamin K deficiency. In patients with gastrointestinal diseases, drug absorption may not be sufficient, requiring careful observation. While taking this medication, symptoms such as gastrointestinal disturbances, diarrhea, and vomiting may occur, and if severe diarrhea or abdominal pain develops, it is important to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a physician. Periodic liver function tests should be performed during long-term use as liver dysfunction may occur, especially in elderly patients over 60. Serious skin reactions like rashes, itching, or severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may develop, and if any unusual symptoms arise, it’s imperative to discontinue the medication immediately. Rare blood-related abnormalities such as leukopenia or thrombocytopenia may occur, necessitating testing if any abnormal signs develop. Central nervous system side effects such as anxiety, confusion, and seizures may rarely appear and warrant vigilance. Patients with reduced kidney function are at risk for acute kidney failure or interstitial nephritis, requiring regular kidney function tests. This medication may disrupt the gut microbiota leading to conditions such as stomatitis or candidiasis, and patients should notify their doctor if symptoms arise. Prolonged use may result in vitamin deficiency symptoms, so nutritional status should be well managed. This medication should be avoided during early pregnancy, and while breastfeeding, caution is required as it may cause diarrhea or skin reactions in infants. The safety of this medication in children, especially in infants under 2 months of age, has not been established, so its use should be approached with caution. Elderly individuals may exhibit more pronounced adverse reactions, thus requiring careful monitoring of dosage and intervals. This medication may interact with other drugs, so any concurrent medications should be reported to healthcare professionals, especially when used alongside anticoagulants or certain antibiotics.
