Precautions

This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Particularly, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia are at higher risk for rash and should avoid this medication. In cases of liver dysfunction or a history of jaundice, there is a risk of recurrence, and use should be avoided. Patients with impaired liver function or severe renal impairment may have increased drug concentrations and should be used cautiously with adjusted dosing intervals. Patients with allergies, the elderly, or those with poor nutritional status should also be careful. If symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, itching, nausea, or vomiting occur while using this medication, consult a doctor immediately, and especially if there is hematochezia or severe abdominal pain, stop administration immediately. Symptoms of liver dysfunction may occur during or after treatment, so regular liver function tests are necessary. Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis shock may occur rarely, so patients should be closely monitored after administration. Pseudomembranous colitis due to antibiotic use may occur, so if diarrhea or abdominal cramps arise, discontinue the medication immediately and seek appropriate treatment. There is a risk of resistant bacteria and excessive growth of non-susceptible bacteria during prolonged use, so more careful monitoring is needed if used for more than 14 days. This medication is primarily eliminated through the kidneys, so dose adjustments are necessary for patients with impaired renal function. It is advisable to avoid use of this medication during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and during breastfeeding, it should be stopped if there are signs of diarrhea or hypersensitivity in infants. Safety has not been established in premature or newborn infants, so caution is needed. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more readily due to decreased bodily function, and the risk of bleeding may increase due to vitamin K deficiency; therefore, it should be used with caution. This medication may interact with other drugs, so particularly when used in combination with anticoagulants or other antibiotics, it should be administered as directed by a physician. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, drowsiness, rash, and seizures may occur, so notify medical personnel immediately and seek appropriate emergency treatment. After preparation, it should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 7 days.
