Treatment of infections in the respiratory system (bronchitis, pneumonia) and the urinary tract (cystitis, urethritis)
This medication is used to treat various bacterial infections. It is effective against respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, as well as tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. Additionally, it is used for urinary tract infections including cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as gonorrhea and pelvic infections. It is also helpful in treating skin and soft tissue infections, boils, abscesses, and wound infections. It is utilized for the treatment of rarely occurring osteomyelitis and dental infections, improving extensive bacterial infections.
For mild to moderate infections such as recurrent tonsillitis, upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections, take 25 mg/3.6 mg per kg body weight daily divided into two doses. For severe infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, lower respiratory infections like bronchopneumonia, and urinary tract infections, take 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg body weight daily divided into two doses.
The 7:1 syrup is not suitable for children under 2 months. It is not suitable for pediatric patients with renal failure.
This drug should not be administered to patients with allergies to beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins or cephalosporins. Special caution is required for patients with a history of severe hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Additionally, it is advisable to avoid using this drug in patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to the increased risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should also refrain from using this medication due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with reduced liver function or moderate to severe renal impairment should adjust the dosing intervals and use with caution. Patients with allergies, the elderly, or those in poor general health should be cautious due to the risk of vitamin K deficiency and bleeding. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea may experience insufficient drug absorption, so it should be administered carefully. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects like diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, and serious colitis symptoms like pseudomembranous colitis may occur, requiring immediate cessation of administration upon symptom onset. Liver dysfunction may be observed, especially reported more frequently in the elderly and males, thus regular liver function tests should be performed. Serious allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, serious skin adverse reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or anaphylactic shock may occur, requiring immediate consultation with healthcare professionals upon unusual symptoms. Blood disorders such as leukopenia and thrombocytopenia may rarely occur, necessitating potential blood tests. Symptoms of central nervous system disturbances such as anxiety, confusion, and convulsions have been reported, and caution is advised for patients with impaired renal function due to an increased risk of seizures. Pregnant women should avoid taking this drug, especially during the first trimester, and nursing mothers should discontinue use if adverse reactions are observed in infants. Elderly patients are at higher risk of side effects due to declining physiological function, thus it should be used with caution, adjusting dosage and administration intervals. This drug may interact with other medications; therefore, current medications should be disclosed to healthcare professionals. Sufficient hydration should be maintained during medication use, and the prescribed duration and dosage should be strictly followed. After preparation, store it in the refrigerator and use within 7 days, shaking well before administration.
