This medication is used to prevent and continuously treat asthma. It also helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. This medication will assist patients in effectively managing their asthma and allergic rhinitis symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily, but asthma patients should take it in the evening. Allergic rhinitis patients should determine the dosing time based on their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take one tablet in the evening once daily. This medication should be administered one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Child dose

Children aged 6 to 14 years should chew and take 5 mg of Montelukast once daily. This medication should be administered one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Precautions

This medication is used to prevent and control symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis. When taking this medication, it is essential to monitor carefully for any neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as agitation, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts. If any new mental or behavioral changes occur during treatment, consult a physician immediately, and discontinue the medication if necessary. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, and patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should limit its use. This medication should not be used if there is an allergy to it. This medication is not intended for treating acute asthma attacks; if acute symptoms occur, a separate emergency medication should be used. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid using these medications while on this medication. While taking this medication, the dosage of inhaled corticosteroids may gradually be reduced according to the physician's instructions, but abrupt changes should be avoided. This medication is not to be used alone for exercise-induced bronchoconstriction and, if necessary, a fast-acting inhaler should continue to be used. If pregnant or breastfeeding, use this medication only if necessary under a doctor's judgment, and caution is required during breastfeeding. It can be safely used in children and the elderly, but age-specific dosages and instructions must be followed. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so general symptomatic treatment should be administered, and if symptoms occur, visit a medical facility immediately. This medication is sensitive to light, so do not open until ready for use, and consume as quickly as possible after opening; keep out of reach of children during storage. During treatment, asthma symptoms may worsen, so always have appropriate emergency medications on hand, and consult a physician if symptoms cannot be controlled.
