Precautions

This medication contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or genetic issues like glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. People with high blood pressure, the elderly, those with heart or kidney problems, patients with edema, and those receiving medical treatment must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If urine output decreases, if the face and extremities swell, if the eyelids become heavy, if the hands become stiff, if blood pressure increases, or if headaches occur while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult a professional. Long-term intake of the licorice component contained in this drug above a certain amount may lead to symptoms such as hypokalemia, increased blood pressure, edema, and weight gain, so potassium levels must be frequently checked through blood tests, and if abnormalities are found, intake should be discontinued and appropriate treatment sought. Muscle weakness, cramps, or paralysis may occur due to hypokalemia, so if bodily abnormalities appear, intake should be stopped. Liver function may be affected, so liver tests are also necessary, and if skin rashes or itching occur, intake should be halted. Symptoms like dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and rarely, symptoms related to urination or cystitis may arise, so if symptoms occur, consult a professional. Fever, cough, and difficulty breathing may indicate interstitial pneumonia, so intake should be stopped immediately and medical examination should be conducted. This medication should be used considering the patient's constitution and symptoms, and if symptoms do not improve after intake, continue use should be avoided, and professional consultation is advised. Due to the licorice component, blood pressure and potassium levels must be monitored closely, and caution is required to check for overlapping ingredients when used with other herbal medicines. Taking potassium supplements or other medications with licorice components may increase the risk of side effects, so caution is advised in such cases. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when it is determined that the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety is not assured. Its safety for children has not been fully established, so caution is necessary. The elderly may have reduced bodily functions, so they should use this medication with caution, possibly at a reduced dosage. Lastly, caution is necessary when using this medication in conjunction with prescriptions similar to Sobokuyotang and interferon-alpha, as many reports of interstitial pneumonia side effects have been documented.
