This medication is used to relieve nasal congestion caused by colds, sinusitis, and upper respiratory allergies.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and those 12 years and older: Administer 30 to 60 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride orally 3 to 4 times a day. The maximum daily dose is 240 mg. The total daily dose should not exceed 4 times, maintaining a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may cause severe skin reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, so if fever or symptoms such as small blisters on the skin occur, immediately discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. This medication should not be used by specific patients. For example, those who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, or have heart disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes should avoid use. Caution is also required for nursing women and patients on specific medications. Particularly, patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, those with compromised liver or kidney function, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and the elderly should use this medication cautiously and consult their doctor before use. Various side effects such as palpitations, headaches, dizziness, insomnia, nausea, constipation, and rashes may occur, so if these symptoms appear, you should immediately inform a healthcare professional. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days or if high fever occurs, it is necessary to discontinue use and consult a specialist. Additionally, if severe headaches, confusion, or visual disturbances occur, you should immediately stop taking the medication. When taking with other sympathomimetics, specific anesthetics, antihypertensives, antidepressants, etc., the risk of side effects may increase due to drug interactions, so be sure to consult a doctor or pharmacist. Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), fever, erythema, severe skin reactions such as numerous small pustules, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headaches, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.

Mild side effects

Palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmia, facial pallor, hypotension, migraines, headaches, dizziness, anxiety, tension, weakness, insomnia, hallucinations, convulsions, central nervous system excitation or depression, reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, constipation, nausea, dyspepsia, ischemic colitis, rash, urinary retention, cross-sensitivity, angle-closure glaucoma, dry mouth, sweating, restlessness, sleep disturbances.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.

Storage

This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a container that does not allow light to enter. It should also be kept in a sealed container to prevent air ingress, with a recommended storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
