Diagnostic effect for diabetes and related diseases
The dextrose tolerance test is used to diagnose the state of diabetes and related conditions. This test evaluates the ability to control blood sugar and can determine the presence of diabetes. It is important to explain to patients that this test is crucial for accurately assessing blood glucose control.
Adults (excluding pregnant women): Administer 75g of dextrose. Pregnant women: Administer 100g of dextrose.
Children: Administer 1.75g of dextrose per kg of body weight, not exceeding 75g of dextrose.
This drug should not be used in patients with dextrose-galactose malabsorption. Caution should be exercised in patients with diabetes insipidus, and it should be taken according to a doctor's instructions. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur during use. Additionally, occasionally neurological side effects, such as headaches, may arise, so caution is necessary. This medication must be taken orally under the guidance of a doctor, and medication should be discontinued the day before the test while avoiding overeating, excessive drinking, and alcohol consumption. Fasting should be maintained for 12 hours before the test, and on the day of the test, no food or drinks other than water should be consumed. A stable position should be maintained during the test, and vigorous exercise should be avoided; smoking should also be avoided. Test results can be influenced by various factors, so the patient's condition should be carefully observed. This drug contains sodium benzoate, which may cause slight irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes, so caution is advised. Taking this drug with laxatives may impede its intestinal absorption, so it is best to avoid concurrent use. For elderly patients, caution should be exercised due to potentially decreased physiological functions, and dosing should be adjusted accordingly. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children for safety.
