Precautions
This medicine should not be used by those who have fever or are weak and suffer from dry cough. Also, patients with hypertension or arteriosclerosis, as well as those with fever due to inflammation, should avoid taking it. This medicine contains lactose, so individuals who have a genetic issue with lactose digestion should not take it. Prolonged use can cause the glycyrrhizin component in this medicine to lower blood potassium levels or raise blood pressure, and may lead to sodium and fluid retention in the body resulting in edema or weight gain, so caution is necessary. During use, one may experience dry mouth or abnormal sensations on the tongue. Persons with high blood pressure, older adults, those with heart or kidney issues, or symptoms of swelling should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Also, it is important for those receiving other treatments to discuss with professionals. If urination decreases, or facial and limb swelling, heavy eyelids, stiffness in hands, elevated blood pressure, or headaches occur after taking this medicine, discontinue use immediately and consult with a professional. Long-term use may show symptoms like hypokalemia, elevated blood pressure, and edema, so it is important to regularly check blood potassium levels and stop use if abnormalities occur. Symptoms of muscle weakness, cramps, or paralysis may appear due to hypokalemia, so discontinue use immediately if these symptoms occur. Taking this medicine together with potassium-containing medications or other medications that contain licorice, or specific diuretics may increase the risk of hypokalemia or muscle problems, so caution is advised. It is preferable not to use specific components such as Banha and Odu together.
