This medication is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in expectoration associated with conditions such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, and pharyngitis. It also aids in the drainage of chronic sinusitis and facilitates drainage of exudative otitis media, helping to alleviate symptoms. Thus, it improves the removal of phlegm and secretions in respiratory and sinus-related diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: As carbocisteine, initially take 750 mg orally, 3 times a day, and when symptoms improve, take 500 mg, 3 times a day.

Child dose

Aged 13 to 18 years: Take 250-500 mg once, 3-4 times a day. Aged 6 to 12 years: Take 250 mg, 3 times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with ulcers in the stomach and duodenum. People who have allergic reactions to this medication or its components should also avoid its use. Children under the age of 2 should not take this medication. Patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to caramel ingredients should use this medication cautiously. Patients with poor liver function or heart problems should consult a doctor before taking this medication. People with a history of stomach or duodenal ulcers are advised to consult a professional before taking this medication. It is advisable for pregnant women or women who may become pregnant to avoid taking this medication, especially during the first three months of pregnancy. Women who are breastfeeding are also advised not to take this medication. Elderly patients may experience decreased bodily functions and should be cautious when using this medication, including possibly reducing the dosage. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension or gastrointestinal bleeding, heartburn, loss of appetite, diarrhea, or thirst occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. If a rash, red spots, eczema, or other skin reactions occur, stop taking the medication and inform a doctor. Be aware that symptoms such as headache, nasal inflammation, itching, palpitations, runny nose, and general discomfort may also occur. If serious skin disorders, liver dysfunction, or jaundice symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare professionals. In cases of suspected severe allergic reactions or shock, also discontinue use immediately. If cough persists for more than 14 days, stop taking this medication and consult a doctor. In cases of overdose, gastric lavage may be helpful, and gastrointestinal disturbances are the most common symptoms. It is recommended to take this medication separately from syrups containing antibiotics or specific ingredients. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If stored outside of the original container, misuse and deterioration of the medication's quality may occur, so it must be kept in the original container.
