Precautions
This medication may impair the ability to drive or perform other complex activities while still feeling drowsy after taking it, and patients may not remember doing so. These behaviors may occur more frequently when taken with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants, or when exceeding the recommended dosage. A severe allergic reaction may cause swelling of the tongue or throat affecting breathing; if these symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately. Co-administration with narcotics may lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, or even coma. Therefore, extreme caution is required when taken together. Patients with acute glaucoma, severe muscle weakness, acute respiratory failure, sleep apnea, children under 15 years old, and those with alcohol or drug dependence should not take this medication. Patients with respiratory diseases, heart diseases, impaired liver or kidney function, brain disorders, and the elderly should use this medication cautiously and under the guidance of a physician. Long-term use may lead to drug dependence or withdrawal symptoms; thus, abrupt discontinuation should be avoided, and the dosage should be gradually reduced. Side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, and indigestion may occur, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication, and breastfeeding mothers should avoid it if possible or discontinue nursing. The safety of this medication has not been established in children, and the elderly should start with a lower dose and use it cautiously.
