How to take

Adult dose

Administer 0.1 mg of Ramosetron Hydrochloride orally once daily within 1 hour prior to chemotherapy (cisplatin, etc.). The duration of administration for each cycle of chemotherapy should be limited to 5 days. Adjust the dosage appropriately according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should not take this medication. The daily intake of aspartame should not exceed the recommended amount set by WHO, and care should be taken not to exceed 2.4g for the average adult. People who show allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients should not take it. Additionally, since it contains lactose, patients with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. Patients taking other serotonin-related medications should use this medication cautiously and require monitoring according to their doctor's instructions. This medication may rarely cause serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis, so if symptoms occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and healthcare professionals should be consulted. Moreover, side effects such as liver dysfunction, headache, drowsiness, constipation, and fever may occur, and it is important to report any abnormal symptoms. This medication is primarily used to prevent or treat severe nausea and vomiting, especially when undergoing chemotherapy. If nausea or vomiting is not adequately controlled with this medication alone, additional treatment may be necessary. Because this medication is metabolized by specific enzymes in the liver, taking it with certain other medications may raise blood concentration and increase the risk of side effects. In particular, caution is required when used in conjunction with serotonin-related medications, as there is a risk of developing a dangerous condition known as serotonin syndrome. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if necessary and with careful consideration, while breastfeeding women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding. In the case of children or elderly individuals, caution is needed as the safety of this medication has not been sufficiently established, and they may have diminished physical functions. This medication dissolves in the mouth, so it is recommended to swallow it with saliva or water after letting it dissolve in the mouth. When removing the medication from the packaging, do not use your nails; it should be pushed out using the tips of your fingers, and automatic dispensers are not recommended. Finally, this medication should be stored in a secure place out of the reach of children, and it is best not to transfer it to another container to maintain its quality.
