This medication is effective against various bacteria and is used for the treatment of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, secondary infections in chronic bronchitis or chronic respiratory diseases, as well as for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia and infections during bronchiectasis. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as acute pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis, gonococcal and non-gonococcal urethritis, and epididymitis. Additionally, it is utilized for treating gastrointestinal infections, bacterial dysentery, intrauterine and adnexal infections, bartholinitis, as well as ophthalmic diseases such as periocular inflammation and corneal ulcer. Furthermore, it is applied to an array of infectious diseases including otitis media, sinusitis, periodontitis, sialadenitis, gallbladder inflammation, and bile duct inflammation. However, as a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, there is a possibility of severe adverse reactions, thus it is used safely and with expected therapeutic effects when alternative treatments are not available for conditions such as acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute otitis media, and complicated skin and soft tissue infections. It is effectively used for treating a wide range of infectious diseases.

This medication can cause serious side effects such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system adverse reactions, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis, thus it should be discontinued immediately if any of these symptoms occur. In patients with a history of myasthenia gravis, this drug may exacerbate symptoms and is not administered. Elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function, solid organ transplant recipients, and patients using corticosteroids should be cautious as the risk of tendon rupture is increased, and concomitant use should be avoided if possible. This medication has neuromuscular blocking effects and can lead to severe adverse reactions in patients with myasthenia gravis. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or other drugs in the same class, those with a history of tendonitis or tendon rupture, children and adolescents under 18 years old, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, or patients with epilepsy. Patients with severe renal impairment, central nervous system disorders, a history of seizures, those taking certain anti-inflammatory drugs or theophylline, the elderly, diabetic patients, individuals with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or those with a history of aortic aneurysm or heart valve disease should be treated with caution. This medication may cause various adverse effects such as shock, severe allergic reactions, neuropsychiatric disturbances, cardiac arrhythmias, kidney and liver dysfunction, blood disorders, gastrointestinal disturbances, musculoskeletal side effects, severe skin reactions, and respiratory issues, thus it is important to consult a healthcare provider immediately upon the occurrence of symptoms. While taking this medication, strong sunlight or artificial UV exposure should be avoided, and caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of dizziness or drowsiness. Pregnant or nursing mothers should not use this medication, and it should not be used in growing children and adolescents. Elderly patients may experience increased drug concentration due to decreased kidney function, necessitating dosage adjustments and caution.
