Improvement of allergic symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, chronic urticaria
This medication is used for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and pruritus. It also helps alleviate symptoms when used in conjunction with hydrocortisone topical preparations for the treatment of eczema and dermatitis. It is used to effectively improve the patient's allergy and skin symptoms.
Adults and children over 6 years of age should take 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. For patients sensitive to adverse reactions, it is recommended to take 5 mg in the morning and evening split doses. Dosage should be adjusted according to age and symptoms. Patients with renal impairment should adjust the dosage and administration interval based on creatinine clearance.
Children over 6 years of age should take 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. In children with renal impairment, dosage should be adjusted individually based on renal clearance and body weight.
This medication should not be taken by individuals who have allergic reactions to certain components or have had such experiences in the past. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or children under 6 years of age should not use this medication. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic condition that prevents lactose digestion should not take it. While taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid certain drugs like theophylline or ritonavir. Taking this medication with alcohol may exacerbate side effects, so it should be avoided. Patients with poor kidney or liver function, elderly individuals, epilepsy patients, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. Particularly during pregnancy, the impact of this medication on the fetus is not clearly established, so caution is advised. This medication can also be secreted in breast milk, so breastfeeding women should also be cautious. If any unusual symptoms occur during use, immediately discontinue taking the medication and consult a doctor or pharmacist. In case of overdose, various symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, headaches, and urine problems may appear, and immediate treatment is necessary. This medication may affect the central nervous system, causing symptoms such as drowsiness or dizziness; therefore, caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. It is advisable to temporarily discontinue this medication before undergoing allergy testing. Taking this medication with food may slow down the absorption rate but does not significantly affect its efficacy. Lastly, it is important to store this medication in a safe place out of reach of children and to keep it in its original container.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), hypersensitivity shock, angioedema, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the mouth/eyes, difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, confusion, severe headache, seizures, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output, severe generalized swelling, elevated blood pressure accompanied.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Do not take with theophylline or ritonavir.
Do not take with excessive alcohol.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air from entering and maintained at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way will safely preserve the medication's efficacy.
