This medicine should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug in the past. In principle, it should not be administered to patients allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics. Patients with a history of allergic reactions or sensitivity to penicillin antibiotics should use this medicine cautiously. Caution is also required for those with a predisposition to allergic symptoms such as bronchial asthma, skin rashes, and urticaria. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may have increased concentrations of this drug, necessitating dose adjustments and extended dosing intervals. Patients who do not eat well, have poor nutritional status, are elderly, or have a generally poor condition should be carefully monitored for vitamin K deficiency symptoms. This drug contains a dye called Yellow 4, so patients allergic to this ingredient should use it with caution. It is important to monitor for potential severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis during administration. If symptoms such as rash, itching, fever, and swelling occur, the administration should be stopped immediately and proper treatment sought. Gastrointestinal side effects such as severe diarrhea or abdominal pain may occur, and serious intestinal diseases like colitis may develop, so administration should be stopped if symptoms present themselves. Respiratory symptoms such as interstitial pneumonia or pulmonary infiltrates may rarely occur, thus immediate action is needed for shortness of breath or coughing. Hematological reactions such as granulocytopenia or hemolytic anemia, and thrombocytopenia may occur; if any abnormal symptoms are observed, administration should be halted. Central nervous system reactions such as seizures have been reported, so attention to neurological symptoms is necessary. Rarely, severe skin diseases such as toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, hence close monitoring of skin condition is essential. Liver dysfunction or jaundice may occur, so it is advisable to perform regular liver function tests. Kidney function may deteriorate rapidly, thus frequent checks of renal status are necessary. Fluctuations in microbiota such as stomatitis or candidiasis may be observed. Occasionally, symptoms of vitamin K and B group deficiencies may arise, so watch for signs of bleeding tendencies, stomatitis, or loss of appetite. Headaches, dizziness, anxiety, genital itching, vaginitis may rarely occur. It is crucial to use this drug only for the minimum necessary duration after susceptibility testing to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria. To reduce the risk of shock, the patient's medical history should be thoroughly checked before administration. Capsules and suspensions differ, so caution should be observed when switching between them. In particular, patients with reduced renal function should be administered carefully as failure to adjust dosages may lead to seizures. This drug may enhance the effects of warfarin when used together, increasing the risk of bleeding, so caution is warranted. It may elevate the plasma concentration of carbamazepine, necessitating caution when used concurrently. Caution is also urged when used together with aminoglycoside antibiotics or diuretics as renal toxicity may increase. Safety during pregnancy has not been established; it should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment. The safety of this drug in neonates, preterm infants, and infants under 6 months has not been established, so caution is necessary. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more readily due to decreased physiological function, thus dosage and intervals should be adjusted, and their condition closely monitored. This drug may affect some clinical test results, so caution is needed when interpreting test results. If in powder form, it should not be left mixed with milk or juice, and any prepared suspension should not be stored for more than 2 weeks.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medicine should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air ingress and kept at room temperature, away from extremes of heat and cold. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the drug for a longer period.
