Treatment of infections in the respiratory system (pneumonia, bronchitis) and genitourinary system (gonorrhea)
This medication is used to treat various infections caused by different bacteria. It is effective against respiratory infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis, as well as infections in the ear, nose, and throat. It is also used for kidney and urinary tract infections, as well as gonorrhea. It helps prevent infections before and after surgery and assists in treating sepsis. It is used in the treatment of bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and gastrointestinal infections (such as peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, etc.). It is a useful medication utilized in treating infections and meningitis in patients with compromised immune function. It is effectively used for these various and widespread infections.
For adults and children aged 12 and over, administer 1-2 g (units) of ceftriaxone once daily via intravenous or intramuscular injection. For infections caused by serious pathogens or pathogens showing moderate susceptibility, the dosage can be increased to 4 g (units) once daily. For gonorrhea treatment, a single intramuscular injection of 250 mg (units) is given. To prevent infections before and after surgery, it is recommended to administer 1-2 g (units) as a single dose 30-90 minutes before surgery.
For newborns (within 14 days of birth), administer 20-50 mg (units) per kg of body weight once daily, not exceeding 50 mg (units) per kg of body weight. There is no need to differentiate between premature and full-term infants.
This medication should not be mixed with solutions containing calcium or other drugs. In particular, when administered to newborns, it may cause precipitation when mixed with calcium, which could be dangerous, so it must not be administered together. Patients with an allergy to this medication or a hypersensitivity to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics should not use this medication. Newborns with certain conditions such as prematurity, jaundice, hypoalbuminemia, and acidosis should also not be given this medication as it poses risks. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with impaired kidney function or those with a tendency for allergies, and dosage adjustments may be required. While using this medication, side effects, including headache, dizziness, diarrhea, rash, liver function abnormalities, may occur, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. There is potential for severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms to occur, so thorough questioning and observation are necessary before administration. Prolonged or excessive use of this medication could lead to a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so regular blood tests are recommended. If pregnant or breastfeeding, it should be used cautiously and after consulting a doctor. This medication should be used particularly carefully in newborns and premature infants, as it is safest not to use it due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to decreased bodily function, so dosage and frequency should be adjusted carefully. This medication may affect blood glucose tests or urine glucose tests, so care should be taken with testing methods. When administering, the injection speed should be slow, and care should be taken to avoid pain or inflammation at the injection site. It is best to use this medication as soon as it is prepared, and it should be stored and used within the designated temperature and time for safety.
