This medicine is used for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and skin itching. It is also used in conjunction with topical hydrocortisone to alleviate symptoms in the treatment of eczema and dermatitis. It helps to reduce inflammation and allergic reactions in each disease, improving discomfort.
For adults and children over 6 years, administer 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. Patients sensitive to side effects may divide the dosage into 5 mg each in the morning and evening. The dosage should be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms, and in patients with renal impairment, the dosage and interval should be adjusted based on creatinine clearance.
For children over 6 years, administer 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride orally once daily before bedtime. For children with renal impairment, adjust the dose individually based on the child's renal clearance and weight.
This medicine should not be taken by patients with allergies to certain ingredients, severely impaired kidney function, or children under 6 years of age. Also, individuals with lactose intolerance should not take this medicine. When taking this medicine, do not combine it with certain medications that may interact, such as theophylline or ritonavir. Excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medicine, and it is best not to use it with other antihistamines. Those with kidney or liver function issues, the elderly, epilepsy patients, pregnant, or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare professional before using this medicine. In particular, elderly patients with reduced kidney function may need dose adjustments due to increased blood drug levels. Furthermore, those with difficulty urinating should exercise caution when using this medicine. If this medicine is overdosed or unusual symptoms appear, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms of overdose may include confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and difficulty urinating. This medicine may cause various side effects such as drowsiness, headache, indigestion, skin rash, and liver dysfunction, so it is important to consult a specialist if abnormal symptoms occur. Additionally, it is recommended not to use this medicine before allergy tests, and caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Taking it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may intensify drowsiness. Finally, this medicine should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container for safety.
