This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class. It should not be administered to patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to the components or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Such hypersensitivity reactions may include anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, and shock. Caution is necessary for patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, as the risk of rash may be increased. Furthermore, patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice related to this drug or penicillin class medications should avoid its use due to the risk of recurrence. For patients with impaired liver or kidney functions, the drug concentration may increase, hence dosing intervals should be adjusted or the drug should be used cautiously. Care should also be taken with patients who have allergies, severe gastrointestinal diseases with vomiting or diarrhea, the elderly, or those in poor general condition. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting, and rarely may lead to severe colitis or acute pancreatitis, so any unusual symptoms should be promptly discussed with healthcare providers. Abnormal liver function has also been reported, particularly in elderly patients over 60 years or males, so regular liver function tests are recommended. Skin rashes, urticaria, and in severe cases, serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, and drug administration should be stopped immediately if such symptoms arise. Rare instances of blood dyscrasia such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hemolytic anemia have been reported, necessitating regular blood tests. Central nervous system side effects may also occur, such as anxiety, drowsiness, and seizures, hence symptoms should be reported to medical staff. There may be a sudden deterioration in kidney function; therefore, regular kidney function tests should be conducted and administration should be discontinued upon any abnormalities. The development of resistant bacteria is possible with prolonged use, so the drug should only be used for the minimum necessary duration, and more caution is needed if used for more than 14 days. This drug may interact with other medications, particularly anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other antibiotics, so consultation with a specialist is advised. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication, especially avoiding administration during the first three months of pregnancy. The use of this medication in children under the age of 12 or weighing less than 40 kg is not recommended due to limited experience. In elderly patients, there is an increased likelihood of adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions, so dosing and intervals should be adjusted while monitoring their condition. Regular tests for liver function, kidney function, and blood tests should be conducted during treatment to detect abnormal signs as early as possible. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms or central nervous system symptoms may appear, and immediate medical attention is required.
