This medication is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in sputum (phlegm) expectoration in acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute conditions Adults: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic conditions Adults: 200 mg once, twice a day

Child dose

Acute conditions Children aged 6-14 years: 200 mg once, twice a day Chronic conditions Children aged 6-14 years: 100 mg once, three times a day Cystic fibrosis Children aged 6 years and older: 200 mg once, three times a day

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to specific components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should not use this medication. Children under 2 years of age should not use this medication. People with genetic disorders that prevent the breakdown of lactose should not take this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication. Breastfeeding women should also be cautious as it is uncertain whether this medication passes into breast milk. If digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, inflammation of the mouth, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during use, discontinue immediately and consult a professional. Allergic reactions such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, and bronchospasm may occur, so caution is needed. Rarely, rapid heartbeat or high blood pressure may occur, and very rarely, severe reactions such as anaphylaxis may be seen. If symptoms such as difficulty in breathing appear, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a healthcare provider. This medication may reduce the efficacy of some antibiotics when taken together, so it should be taken at least 2 hours apart. It is advisable not to mix other medications with the solution of this medication. This medication must be kept out of reach of children and should be stored in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
