This medication is used in conditions where sputum discharge is difficult, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis. These conditions involve mucus and sputum accumulation in the respiratory tract, making it difficult to expel. This medication aids in sputum discharge and helps make breathing easier. Therefore, it promotes the thinning of respiratory mucus and contributes to symptom relief.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals with known allergic reactions to this medication or any of its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum or children under the age of 2 should not take this medication. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, and individuals with hereditary disorders that prevent lactose digestion should not use it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication after discussing with a doctor, and breastfeeding women should use it with caution. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur while taking this medication, or if allergic reactions like hives, rash, headache, or asthma exacerbation arise, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a professional. Taking this medication with other oral antibiotics may reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotic, so it is advised to take it at least 2 hours apart. Moreover, this medication should not be mixed with other drugs in solution. Keep it in a safe place out of the reach of children, and ensure pharmaceuticals are stored in their original container to maintain quality. For inhalation use of this medication, it is essential to consult with a doctor before use for patients with bronchial asthma or poor respiratory function, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should use it cautiously. For elderly people or children, safety has not been sufficiently verified, so it is advisable to consult a professional before use. After inhalation, allergic reactions such as bronchospasm or rash may occasionally occur, so if symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and inform a professional. Inhalation may produce a light sulfur smell, and symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite may occur, so caution is advised. Since the medication can increase bronchial secretions, appropriate actions such as mechanical suction or position changes should be taken if sputum does not come out naturally. When using inhaled medication with antibiotics, it is best to administer them separately without mixing or via different routes. This medication is not used for injection or ophthalmic solutions, although a mask may adhere after nebulization, it can be easily removed with water. Elderly patients should take this medication with caution as they may have decreased bodily functions, and they should be closely monitored. After using an inhaler, the nebulizer should be cleaned thoroughly and dried immediately, and while some medications may cause discoloration in the nebulizer, it does not affect efficacy. Inhaled medications and certain antibiotics may produce precipitate or discoloration when mixed, so care should be taken not to use them together. When administering via nebulization, it is advisable to dilute the medication with sterile distilled water for injection to avoid concentration.
