Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Caution is needed for patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to a higher risk of rash. It is best not to use this medication in patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice. For patients with liver disease or severe renal impairment, careful dosing should be considered as the drug concentration may increase, necessitating adjustments in administration intervals. Patients with allergic constitutions, those who have difficulty with oral intake, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition may experience vitamin K deficiency, requiring caution. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or severe vomiting and diarrhea may not absorb the drug adequately. If symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, or blood in stools occur, the medication should be stopped immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. Signs of liver dysfunction may appear during or after discontinuation of treatment, necessitating liver function tests, and regular monitoring of liver and kidney functions is recommended for prolonged therapy. Adverse reactions such as skin rashes, hives, and in severe cases, anaphylactic shock may occur; if these symptoms arise, drug administration should be stopped immediately, and emergency care sought. Various adverse effects, including blood disorders, central nervous system symptoms, and renal function abnormalities, have been reported, so patient conditions must be closely monitored. Pregnant women in early pregnancy or breastfeeding should use this drug with caution, and those who are breastfeeding may observe diarrhea or skin rashes in their infants. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg. The elderly experience a heightened risk of adverse effects due to decreased physiological function, thus should be carefully dosed with adjusted intervals. This drug may interact with others; therefore, consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary when taking with anticoagulants, antibiotics, or anti-inflammatory drugs. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, or seizures may occur, warranting immediate cessation of the drug and appropriate medical treatment.
