Precautions

This drug is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by binding to specific proteins and interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. First, this drug should not be used by patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug or have a history of allergy to this drug or cephalosporin antibiotics. Moreover, it should be used with caution in patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those who have a family history of asthma, rashes, or urticaria. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who cannot take the medication orally, the elderly, and those in poor general condition should be carefully monitored for possible vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, should also be monitored closely. While using this drug, rare occurrences of shock, severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, severe skin disorders, blood abnormalities, hepatitis, kidney function abnormalities, gastrointestinal problems, respiratory issues, and central nervous system disturbances may occur, so if symptoms arise, healthcare professionals should be consulted immediately. In particular, if there are symptoms such as blood in the stool, abdominal pain, or sudden skin rashes, the use of the medication should be stopped immediately and treatment should be sought. To prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria, it is crucial to conduct susceptibility testing and only administer for the minimum necessary duration. Additionally, there may be interactions when used with other medications, particularly nephrotoxic drugs or diuretics, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives, so caution is advised in these cases. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this drug with caution as its safety has not been fully established by a healthcare professional. It is advisable not to use in infants under one month of age as its safety and efficacy have not been confirmed. Elderly patients, due to decreased physical function, are at risk of experiencing adverse reactions and bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, thus dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and monitored carefully. Finally, while taking this medication, false positive reactions may appear in some urine tests, so caution should be exercised when interpreting test results.
