Difficulty in expectoration commonly occurs in respiratory diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis. These diseases can make it difficult to expel mucus due to inflammation of the airways or excessive mucus secretion. Appropriate treatment is needed to improve this condition, and it helps make breathing easier by facilitating the expulsion of mucus. Therefore, this medication is used for the above diseases with expectoration difficulties.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute diseases: 200 mg as a single dose, 3 times a day. Chronic diseases: 200 mg as a single dose, 2 times a day.

Child dose

Acute diseases: 6 to 14 years 200 mg as a single dose, 2 times a day. Chronic diseases: 6 to 14 years 100 mg as a single dose, 3 times a day. Cystic fibrosis: 6 years and older 200 mg as a single dose, 3 times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have an allergic reaction to this drug or its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also not use this medication. Children under 2 years of age should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with hereditary conditions that prevent the digestion of lactose should not be administered this medication. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant must consult a doctor before taking this medication. Women who are breastfeeding should also use this medication cautiously as it is not clear if it passes into breast milk. This medication contains the dye Yellow 5, so individuals who are allergic to this dye should exercise caution. If any gastrointestinal symptoms appear during the course of this medication, such as nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, heartburn, or diarrhea, discontinue use immediately and consult an expert. Furthermore, if any allergic symptoms such as hives, itching, skin rash, headache, tinnitus, or asthma exacerbation appear, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. Rarely, rapid heartbeat or increased blood pressure may occur, and very rarely, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis may happen. This medication may lower the effectiveness of some antibiotics if taken together, so it is advisable to space dosages by at least 2 hours. It is also safe not to mix other medications with this medication’s solution. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of the reach of children, and kept in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
