Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a known allergy to its components or a history of acute porphyria. In patients with impaired kidney function, this drug may remain in the body longer, requiring cautious use with reduced dosage or increased dosing intervals. Patients with poor liver function, a history of drug allergies, elderly patients, and those taking NSAIDs should also exercise caution. Particularly, as it may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, patients with gastric ulcers or those over middle age who have recently experienced new dyspeptic symptoms should verify that they do not have a malignant condition before using this medication. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers that are Helicobacter pylori positive should undergo treatment to eradicate the bacteria simultaneously. This medication may rarely cause serious allergic reactions or blood dyscrasias, liver dysfunction, heart problems, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological effects, and skin rashes, so if any unusual symptoms occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. During treatment, regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests should be conducted to closely monitor the patient’s condition. Elderly patients or those with chronic lung diseases, diabetes, or weakened immune systems have an increased risk of pneumonia and should be cautioned. After taking this medication, if experiencing dizziness or drowsiness, driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. When taken with other medications, as this drug may affect the absorption or excretion of other drugs, consultation with a pharmacist or physician may be necessary to adjust the dosage. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of using this medication. The safety of this drug in children has not been fully established, so caution is advised when using it in pediatric patients.
