Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it may be dangerous to administer this medication to patients who are allergic to its components or have gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal obstruction, or perforation. Additionally, it should not be used in patients with prolactin-secreting tumors, patients with severely impaired liver function, or women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Patients with cardiac issues, prolonged QT interval, or electrolyte imbalances, as well as heart failure patients, may be at risk of worsening heart problems when taking this medication. Patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance should also be cautious. This medication should be administered with caution to children, the elderly, patients with impaired kidney or liver function, and those with a history of heart disease. In particular, caution is necessary for children as overdose may lead to neurological adverse reactions. Common side effects of this medication include dry mouth, drowsiness, headache, diarrhea, skin rash, and excessive milk secretion. More severe adverse reactions, such as cardiac arrhythmias, seizures, and anaphylaxis, have been reported rarely. Since the drug is metabolized in the liver and kidneys, patients with compromised liver or kidney function may require dosage adjustments, and regular check-ups are recommended for prolonged use. This medication can cause drowsiness or dizziness, therefore, it is advised to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, after taking it. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, it should not be used in combination with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors or drugs that prolong QT interval. Also, when taken with antacids or acid secretion inhibitors, absorption may be reduced, requiring adjustment of timing of administration. It is safe to avoid taking this medication during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and caution is necessary as side effects may occur in newborns during breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there may be neurological symptoms and risks of cardiac arrhythmias, therefore immediate medical attention is necessary, and since there is no specific antidote, appropriate medical measures are required. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
