Precautions

This medication should not be mixed or administered concurrently with calcium-containing solutions or drugs. Particularly in newborns, there is a risk of precipitation when this drug and calcium combine, so it should not be administered. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug, or those allergic to cephalosporins or penicillin antibiotics, should not use it. Caution is also required when using it together with drugs containing lidocaine. It should not be administered to premature infants or newborns with bilirubin binding issues. Patients with a history of drug allergies or allergic conditions should use this medication with caution. Patients with reduced kidney function may experience prolonged retention of the drug leading to side effects, necessitating dosage adjustments. Elderly patients or those in poor health also require caution, and regular monitoring and supplementation of vitamin K may be necessary due to potential deficiency. When using this medication, various side effects such as headache, dizziness, rash, diarrhea, liver function abnormalities may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to a physician immediately. In particular, if severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and emergency treatment should be sought. This medication should be used only for the duration necessary to prevent the development of resistant organisms, and it is advisable to perform a skin reaction test before administration. During administration, regular checks of liver, kidney, and blood tests should be conducted to monitor for abnormalities. If given with calcium-containing solutions, precipitation may occur; hence it should not use the same infusion site as calcium solutions. If they must be used together, the infusion site should be thoroughly cleaned before sequential administration. This medication should be used cautiously in pregnant or breastfeeding women as the effects on the fetus or newborn have not been fully established. Newborns or premature infants should not be administered this drug due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Elderly patients may be more susceptible to side effects due to decreased bodily functions. This medication can affect results of certain clinical tests such as blood glucose tests or urine tests, so the healthcare provider should be informed about the use of this medication during testing. Local reactions like injection site pain or phlebitis may occur, so care should be taken with the method and speed of injection, and it is advisable to administer slowly whenever possible. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment should be given. Caution should be taken to watch for symptoms like dizziness during driving or operating machinery while on this medication. Finally, this medication should be used according to the physician's instructions on the proper dosage and administration, and immediate consultation with healthcare providers is necessary if any adverse reactions are suspected.
