This medication is used in cases where it is difficult to expel phlegm due to acute or chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, or cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute conditions: 200 mg once, three times daily, to be taken with a small amount of water before meals. Chronic conditions: 200 mg once, twice daily, to be taken with a small amount of water before meals.

Child dose

Acute conditions (ages 6-14): 200 mg once, twice daily, to be taken with a small amount of water before meals. Chronic conditions (ages 6-14): 100 mg once, three times daily, to be taken with a small amount of water before meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by those with hypersensitivity to this medication or its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should also avoid this medication. Children under 2 years of age should not take this medication, and those with genetic lactose-related issues should also avoid it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication if absolutely necessary and should consult a physician before taking it. Nursing mothers should also consult a specialist prior to use, as this medication may be secreted in breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, or diarrhea, or adverse reactions such as rash, itching, headache, or difficulty breathing occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of some antibiotics when taken together, so it should be taken at least 2 hours apart. Do not mix this medication with other solutions, and it should be stored in its original container out of reach of children. For inhalation solutions, patients with bronchial asthma or respiratory function impairment should definitely consult healthcare personnel before using, and caution is needed for the elderly or children. After inhalation, bronchospasm or difficulty breathing may occasionally occur, so if these symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately and inform healthcare personnel. Clean the inhalation device thoroughly, avoid mixing with antibiotics, and wash the mask with water if it sticks to the face after spraying. This medication is not used in injection or eye drop form, and the spraying device must be cleaned immediately after use.

This medication should be taken at least 2 hours apart when taken with oral antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline, erythromycin, thiamphenicol).

Storage

This medication can be sensitive to air and moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. Avoid storing it in locations that are too hot or too cold, and it is best to keep it at room temperature, between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
