It is effectively used for stabilizing and treating various mental and physical symptoms.
Adults: Administer 1-3㎎ per day orally in 1-2 divided doses as ethyl loflazepate. Adjust the dose appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma as it may increase intraocular pressure. In patients with myasthenia gravis, it may worsen symptoms due to muscle relaxant effects, so it should be avoided. It is also unsafe to use in patients with severely impaired liver function, sleep apnea syndrome, or those with alcohol or drug dependence. Additionally, patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or benzodiazepines, severe respiratory failure patients, and patients with certain genetic lactose metabolism issues should not be administered this medication. Caution should be exercised in patients with heart diseases, as blood pressure drops may exacerbate symptoms. Patients with liver or kidney function impairment may experience delayed drug excretion, necessitating careful monitoring. Administer with caution in patients with organic brain disorders, moderate respiratory failure, the elderly, frail patients, depression, children, and patients with spinal or cerebellar ataxia. Special care should be taken in patients with addiction to medications such as alcohol, sedatives, analgesics, antipsychotics, antidepressants, or lithium. Sustained use of this medication may lead to dependence or withdrawal symptoms, so dosage should be strictly adhered to, and sudden discontinuation should be avoided; tapering off should be done slowly. In patients with mental disorders such as schizophrenia, symptoms may actually worsen, thus close monitoring is necessary. Various neurological side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, gait disturbances, headaches, and speech disorders can occur, so vigilance is required. Symptoms like abnormal eye movements or vision problems, digestive symptoms, liver function abnormalities, blood abnormalities, urinary symptoms, skin rashes, and itching may occur, and any unusual signs should be reported immediately. During the use of this medication, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, making it advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may increase suicidal tendencies if used alone for treating depression or depressive anxiety, thus caution is necessary. Whenever possible, it should be administered for a short duration, and long-term use should involve regular symptom assessments, blood tests, and liver function tests. Concurrent use with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol may enhance effects, necessitating caution during combination therapy. It is safest not to use in women during early pregnancy or those who might become pregnant, as adverse effects may arise in the fetus or newborn. Nursing mothers should also avoid this medication as it may affect the newborn, and if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be stopped. Safety in children has not been established, and elderly patients may more readily experience side effects, so starting with a small dose is prudent. In cases of overdose, professional treatment is required, and caution must be followed when using specific antidotes related to this medication.
