Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For adults, 1.5 to 2.5L should be infused into the abdominal cavity once, then drained after a dwell time of 4 to 8 hours, performing this process 3 to 5 times daily. During Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), a mask should be worn, and hands must be thoroughly sanitized. The dialysis bag should be hung, with the drainage bag placed below the level of the abdomen, connecting the dialysis fluid and the drainage line aseptically for the drainage and infusion process.

Precautions

This drug is used for peritoneal dialysis, and abruptly stopping peritoneal dialysis can lead to life-threatening situations in the absence of other renal replacement therapies, so caution is advised. Certain patients should not use this drug; those with diaphragmatic defects or abdominal burns, patients with severe peritoneal adhesions, among others, may be at risk from its administration. Additionally, patients with tendencies to bleed, metabolic acidosis, severe electrolyte imbalances, or those who have recently undergone abdominal surgery should avoid this drug. Patients who find it difficult to comply with doctor's instructions or who have experienced significant weight loss should also exercise caution when using this drug. Some patients require special attention during administration; patients taking digitalis preparations must regularly monitor potassium levels, and those suspected of having glucose metabolism disorders should periodically check their blood sugar levels. Other patients, such as those with lumbar disorders, those using artificial anus, those on diuretics, and patients with severe lung diseases, must also be carefully administered this drug. During the peritoneal dialysis process, side effects such as abdominal pain, bleeding, peritonitis, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation may occur, as well as electrolyte imbalances and metabolic problems. While using this drug, patients must regularly monitor their weight, blood electrolyte levels, blood sugar, and protein status. It is important to maintain a sterile environment during dialysis to prevent peritonitis. The peritoneal dialysis fluid should be used in the container provided, and it should not be used if the packaging is damaged or if the liquid is cloudy. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should only use this drug if the potential benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety during these periods has not been established. Dosage for children should be adjusted based on weight and age, and caution must be exercised for the elderly due to the risk of hernia development. In the case of overdose, dehydration, electrolyte disturbances, and hyperglycemia may occur, so caution is needed. It is advisable to warm the peritoneal dialysis fluid to body temperature before use. This drug is intended solely for intraperitoneal dialysis and should not be used as an injectable solution. Before use, always check the condition of the container, and any remaining drug should not be reused.
