This medication is used for the treatment of various infections caused by different bacteria. It is effective for respiratory infections and community-acquired pneumonia excluding acute bronchitis, and is also applicable for infections in the ear, nose, and throat. It is used for bacterial prostatitis, urinary tract infections, gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, biliary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gynecological infections, and peritonitis. However, it should only be used when there are no alternative treatments for specific chronic diseases or simple infections, and caution is necessary due to the risk of serious adverse reactions. This medication is used to effectively treat a wide range of bacterial infections.

How to take

Precautions

This medication can cause serious side effects such as tendinitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system abnormalities, so caution is necessary. Particularly, it should not be administered to patients with severe myasthenia gravis, as symptoms may worsen. This medication is recommended to be used only for limited indications such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, simple urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. Elderly patients, those with impaired renal function, patients with epilepsy, and patients with severe myasthenia gravis should use this medication more cautiously. Additionally, it should not be administered to pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, or adolescents under 18 years of age. This medication can interact with other drugs, so patients must consult their doctor or pharmacist, especially when taking it with tizanidine, ketoprofen, theophylline, warfarin, or diabetes medications. This medication may cause photosensitivity reactions, so one should avoid strong sunlight or artificial ultraviolet exposure, and should discontinue use immediately if any unusual symptoms appear. If pain, inflammation, or signs of tendon rupture occur during administration, stop using this medication immediately and consult a specialist. This medication may affect the central nervous system, resulting in serious neurological side effects such as dizziness, seizures, psychotic symptoms, and suicidal thoughts, and care should be taken. Blood sugar disturbances may occur, so diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels carefully. Overdose may cause kidney damage, requiring emergency treatment.
