This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of herpes simplex virus infections, including primary and recurrent genital herpes. It is also effective in the treatment of shingles virus infections and particularly helps relieve pain during the acute phase. However, its effectiveness against postherpetic neuralgia is still unclear. Additionally, it is utilized for the treatment of chickenpox in children aged 2 years and older. Overall, this medication is useful in treating a variety of viral infections and improving symptoms.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1.
