This medication is used to treat infections caused by various bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, and Salmonella. It is effective for respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, infections of the ear, nose, and throat, bacterial prostatitis, urinary tract infections, gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, and various bacterial infections in other areas. It is also used in cases of skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gynecological infections, peritonitis, and bartholinitis. As a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, it should only be used when there are no other treatment options available for acute bacterial sinusitis, exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, simple urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. This medication is very effective in treating various bacterial infections and helps the patient recover.
For ordinary adults, take 250 to 500 mg of ciprofloxacin orally twice daily between meals. For severe mixed infections, the dose can be increased to 750 mg twice daily.
