Precautions

This drug works by binding to specific proteins, inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, and killing bacteria. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or shock from this medication should not use it. Additionally, those who have experienced allergic reactions to this drug or other cephalosporin antibiotics should avoid its use. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to penicillin antibiotics or those with allergic predisposition, as well as patients with severely impaired kidney function, should use this drug with caution. Elderly patients, malnourished patients, and those with gastrointestinal disorders should also be careful when using this drug. This medication can rarely cause severe shock or acute allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, so symptoms should be closely monitored during administration. Severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome can occur, and if unusual symptoms appear, the medication should be stopped immediately. Periodic blood tests may be required as abnormalities such as leukopenia or anemia and thrombocytopenia can appear. It may affect liver and kidney function, occasionally leading to hepatitis, jaundice, nephritis, and acute renal failure, thus careful observation is required. Gastrointestinal side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and gastrointestinal discomfort; if symptoms worsen, administration should be terminated, especially in cases of severe colitis. Respiratory tract complications such as interstitial pneumonia or eosinophilic pulmonary infiltrates should be observed closely for signs of respiratory distress. CNS side effects can include anxiety, agitation, dizziness, drowsiness, and hallucinations, which can occur rarely. Prolonged use or high doses of this drug may lead to imbalances such as oral candidiasis. Bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency can also occur rarely, necessitating caution. There may be interactions when used with other medications, especially with nephrotoxic drugs or anticoagulants, and consultations with healthcare professionals are advised. The safety of this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been sufficiently established, so the benefits and risks of treatment should be carefully considered. Safety and efficacy for neonates have not been established, so it is advisable not to use it in infants under 1 month of age. Elderly individuals are at higher risk of side effects due to physiological decline, necessitating careful dosage adjustments and monitoring. It is important to keep the treatment period as short as possible to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and thoroughly check allergy history before treatment. False positive results may appear in some tests, so attention should be exercised in interpreting test results.
