Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with angle-closure glaucoma, as it may increase intraocular pressure and worsen symptoms. Patients with allergies to this medication or any of its components should also not use it. Administration to patients on MAO inhibitors can lead to dangerously high blood pressure, thus it should be avoided. Patients with skin disorders or a history of melanoma should exercise caution as this medication may exacerbate cancer cells. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function, as well as those with a history of gastric ulcers, should use this medication cautiously, as it may cause gastrointestinal bleeding or worsen symptoms. Diabetic patients should be careful, as blood sugar levels may rise, increasing insulin requirements. Patients with heart or lung diseases, bronchial asthma, or endocrine disorders should be cautious, as symptoms may worsen. Patients with cardiac arrhythmias should be hospitalized at the start of treatment to closely monitor heart status and adjust dosages. Chronic angle-closure glaucoma patients should be treated carefully as increased intraocular pressure may worsen symptoms. Increased dopamine in the brain may cause involuntary movements or mental disorders, so patients with a history of mental illness should be particularly cautious. Dyskinesia may appear more quickly than with other similar medications, so dosages should be reduced if symptoms are noted. Neuropsychiatric side effects such as involuntary movements, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, and gait disturbances may occur, and treatment may need to be adjusted or temporarily stopped if these symptoms arise. Sudden discontinuation of ant-Parkinson medications can lead to a serious condition called neuroleptic malignant syndrome, thus caution is needed. Gastrointestinal side effects may include gastrointestinal bleeding, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain; medication should be discontinued if symptoms are severe. Urogenital symptoms such as urination abnormalities and incontinence may rarely occur. Blood-related side effects may include neutropenia and anemia; treatment should be stopped if unusual symptoms appear. Allergic reactions such as rashes may occur; treatment should be stopped if such symptoms arise. Cardiovascular side effects may include orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, and arrhythmias, requiring careful monitoring. Eye-related side effects may include blurred vision or pupil abnormalities. Liver function abnormalities may develop, so regular liver function tests are recommended. Kidney function may also be affected, necessitating monitoring of edema and blood test results. Drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur while using this medication, thus it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised not to use this medication, and nursing women should also avoid administration. Safety for children under 18 has not been established, so it is advised not to use this medication for this age group. Elderly individuals may have reduced bodily functions, so symptoms should be closely monitored when administering this medication. In case of overdose, immediate emergency measures such as gastric lavage should be taken, and electrocardiograms should be conducted to check for arrhythmias. This medication may interact with other drugs, so consultation with a physician is necessary regarding other medications taken concurrently. When used for a long duration, dosages and frequency should be adjusted according to changes in symptoms, and alternative treatments should be considered in cases of sudden symptom exacerbation.
