Prevention of simplex herpes infections in immunocompetent patients: Administer 200 mg approximately every 6 hours four times a day, or 400 mg every 12 hours twice a day. 3. Prevention of simplex herpes infections in immunocompromised patients: Administer 200 mg every 6 hours four times a day, or consider increasing doses to 400 mg per dose in severe immunocompromised patients (such as post-bone marrow transplant) or changing to parenteral administration due to gastrointestinal absorption issues.

Treatment of chickenpox in children over 2 years: Administer 20 mg per kg of body weight per dose (maximum 800 mg) 4 times a day for 5 days. As it can burden the kidneys, careful monitoring for renal-related abnormal symptoms, such as renal failure or hematuria, should be conducted. Various side effects have been reported, including blood and lymphatic abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, gastrointestinal symptoms, musculoskeletal pain, cardiovascular issues, urinary problems, therefore, if symptoms occur, consult medical personnel immediately. This drug is most effective when administered early in the course of the illness, so it is important to start treatment as soon as symptoms appear. Caution is required for hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery due to potential altered consciousness. Drug interactions may occur when taken with other medications, so be sure to inform medical personnel of any medications being taken.
