This medication is effective against various bacterial infections such as E. coli, Shigella, and Salmonella. It is used to treat respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia, as well as infections of the ear, nose, and throat, bacterial prostatitis, acute pyelonephritis, and other urinary tract infections. Additionally, it is used to treat bacterial infections in various locations including gastrointestinal infections, infections of the bile ducts, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and gynecological infections. As a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, it has a potential for serious adverse reactions and should only be used when no alternative treatment is available for certain conditions. Overall, it is used to improve a wide range of bacterial infections.

How to take

Precautions

This medication may cause serious side effects such as tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system abnormalities. If such symptoms occur, the patient should immediately discontinue use and consult a physician. Patients with myasthenia gravis should not take this medication as it may worsen symptoms. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, children under 18 years old, and patients with epilepsy should not take this medication. The risk of side effects may increase when taken with certain medications, so it is important to inform the physician of any other medications being taken. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function may be at a higher risk for side effects, and dosages and administration intervals should be adjusted as necessary. During the course of treatment, patients should avoid strong sunlight or artificial ultraviolet exposure and should discontinue use immediately if symptoms of photosensitivity appear. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, and it is best to avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medication. Diabetic patients requiring blood sugar control should closely monitor for changes in blood glucose levels. If diarrhea or severe abdominal pain occurs during treatment, there may be a risk of pseudomembranous colitis, and immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary.
