Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It should be used with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, diabetes, and severe kidney impairment. While taking this medication, symptoms such as headache, tremors, muscle stiffness, drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, excitement, and limb numbness may occur. There may also be cardiovascular symptoms such as rapid heartbeat or blood pressure fluctuations, and arrhythmias. If allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, angioedema, hives, bronchospasm, hypotension, or collapse occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Caution is also required due to the possibility of liver dysfunction, fatigue, edema, and gastrointestinal disorders. Excessive dosage may lead to cardiac rhythm disturbances or cardiac arrest, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly adhered to. If the medication is ineffective, do not continue taking it and consult an expert; especially in children, the usage method should be accurately conveyed and their condition should be closely monitored. This medication can lower blood potassium levels, and the risk may increase when taken with other medications; therefore, severely asthmatic patients are advised to periodically check their blood potassium levels. Co-administration with drugs such as epinephrine or isoproterenol can cause heart problems and should be avoided. Patients taking MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants should be cautious as the vascular side effects of this medication may be exacerbated. It is advisable to avoid concomitant use with non-selective beta-blockers like propranolol. Patients taking multiple sympathomimetics should be cautious when using this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, and extra caution is required during the first three months of pregnancy. Elderly patients may have diminished bodily functions, so caution such as reducing the dosage should be exercised. In the event of an overdose, discontinuing the medication typically alleviates most symptoms, and a selective beta-blocker may be used as an antidote if necessary, but caution is needed for patients with a history of bronchial spasms. Lastly, rare allergic skin rashes may occur when the dosage of one of its ingredients, hydrochloride ambroxol, changes, and in some individuals with specific constitutions, systemic allergic reactions may manifest, so caution is advised.
