Precautions

This medication should be carefully cut when using a glass ampule to avoid glass fragments, and extra caution is required, especially when used on children or the elderly. This medication contains sodium bisulfite, which may cause allergic reactions in some patients, particularly with an increased risk of asthma attacks in asthmatic patients. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to sodium bisulfite or other components, hyperoxaluria, Mediterranean anemia, gout, cystinuria, G6PD deficiency, or those with kidney stones. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, fatigue, flushing, headache, and insomnia. High-dose administration may increase the risk of diarrhea and kidney stones. Overdose of this medication may lead to the formation of stones in the urinary tract, and in patients with G6PD deficiency, hemolytic phenomena may occur, thus caution is necessary. If oral administration is possible, oral administration should be prioritized over injection, and injection should be limited to patients who have difficulty with gastrointestinal absorption or in acute conditions only. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so caution is needed when used in conjunction with aspirin, antibiotics, antiepileptics, oral contraceptives, etc. During pregnancy, the effects on the fetus are unclear, so this medication should only be used when deemed absolutely necessary, and high-dose administration should be avoided. This medication may affect tests such as glucose tests or hematuria tests, requiring caution in interpreting the test results. Excessive doses can lead to diarrhea and kidney stones, so if any unusual symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. There may be pain at the injection site, and if the injection speed is too fast, dizziness or vascular pain may occur, so injections should be administered slowly. This medication should be stored away from direct sunlight and kept in a dry place, in a secure location out of reach of children. Additionally, transferring the medication from its original container to another may risk quality degradation or misuse, so it must be stored in the original container.
