This medication helps to facilitate the expulsion of phlegm in diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis, where phlegm discharge is difficult. This effect contributes to improving respiratory symptoms and aids in the recovery of lung function. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of respiratory diseases with phlegm discharge difficulties.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute disease: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic disease: 200 mg once, twice a day

Child dose

Acute disease: 200 mg once, twice a day for ages 6 to 14 Chronic disease: 100 mg once, three times a day for ages 6 to 14 Cystic fibrosis: 200 mg once, three times a day for ages 6 and older

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components. Patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should not take this medication as it may worsen symptoms. It is safest for children under 2 years old not to take this medication. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with genetic disorders that affect lactose digestion should avoid it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if necessary and after consulting a physician as its safety has not been adequately studied. Breastfeeding women should also consult a specialist before taking this medication as it is uncertain whether it passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during use, discontinuation and consultation with a doctor are necessary. If allergic reactions appear such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, or bronchospasm in asthma patients, immediate discontinuation is required. Symptoms like rapid heartbeat or high blood pressure, and rarely serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis may occur, so caution is advised. If symptoms like difficulty breathing occur, immediate discontinuation and consultation with a specialist should be done. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of some oral antibiotics, so it should be taken at least 2 hours apart from them. Mixing other drugs into this medication's solution should be avoided as it may affect its efficacy or safety. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation in quality.
