This medication is used to treat infections caused by various bacteria. It is effective for respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis, and community-acquired pneumonia, and is also applicable for ear, nose, and throat infections. Additionally, it assists in the treatment of urinary infections such as acute uncomplicated cystitis and acute pyelonephritis, as well as bacterial prostatitis. It can also be used for gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal and biliary infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and bone and joint infections. This medication is effective for various infectious diseases such as gynecological infections, peritonitis, tendinitis, and pyoderma. However, some conditions should only be treated with this medication when there are no alternative treatments available due to the potential for serious adverse reactions. This medication is very useful for treating extensive bacterial infections.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious side effects such as tendinitis or tendon rupture; if such symptoms arise, usage must be stopped immediately. Patients with severe myasthenia gravis should not use this medication, as it may worsen their symptoms. This medication is limited to treating specific bacterial infections and should only be administered when no other treatment options are available. Coadministration with corticosteroids may increase the risk of tendon rupture; therefore, it should be avoided. If tendon pain or inflammation occurs during treatment, rest and avoidance of exercise are necessary, and consultation with a specialist should be sought if these symptoms arise. This medication may increase the risk of seizures in patients with epilepsy or central nervous system disorders, so caution is needed. It should not be used by pregnant or potentially pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, or children under 18. Elderly patients or those with impaired renal function may require dosage adjustments and careful monitoring due to potentially elevated drug concentrations. This medication may interact with various drugs, so patients taking other medications should inform their healthcare provider. Photosensitivity reactions may occur, so it is important to avoid strong sunlight or ultraviolet exposure, and discontinue use if skin abnormalities arise. Diabetic patients requiring blood sugar control should carefully monitor blood sugar changes, and seek immediate treatment if hypoglycemic symptoms occur. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea or abdominal pain develop during treatment, patients should consult healthcare professionals as serious conditions like pseudomembranous colitis may arise. Care should be taken when driving or operating machinery, and it is advisable to avoid alcohol while taking this medication. This medication may impact multiple organs such as the kidneys, liver, and heart, so immediate medical attention is necessary if any unusual symptoms appear. Keep this medication out of reach of children and store it away from direct sunlight and ultraviolet light.
