Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to individuals who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions to this drug or have had hypersensitivity to penicillin antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis, and those with lymphocytic lymphoma. Furthermore, caution is warranted when administering this medication to some patients. Those who are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, individuals with a constitution that often exhibits bronchial asthma or skin allergic symptoms in themselves or their family, and patients with severely impaired kidney function need particular attention. Patients who have difficulty swallowing or elderly individuals, or those who are not in good overall health may show signs of vitamin K deficiency, thus observation is needed. Patients with heart failure, those with urinary tract defects, or individuals undergoing treatment for recurrent urinary tract infections should be administered this medication with caution; if there is an allergy to the Yellow 5 component present in this medication, caution is also required. During the course of taking this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock can rarely occur, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored after consumption. If symptoms of allergy such as fever, rash, hives, and joint pain occur, ingestion should be immediately discontinued, and consultation with healthcare providers should be sought. Gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may arise, and in severe cases, colitis with blood in stools may occur, so immediate reporting of any symptoms is necessary. Blood-related issues can rarely lead to anemia or thrombocytopenia, so if there are abnormal symptoms, administration should be halted. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and confusion have been rarely reported, and in severe cases, aseptic meningitis may occur, warranting attention. Skin reactions may include itching, severe dermatitis, and rarely severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, therefore careful observation of skin condition is necessary. Liver and kidney functions may also be affected, requiring regular testing, and acute kidney failure may occur, so symptoms should be watched for closely. During the course of taking this medication, secondary infections may occur due to fungi or specific bacteria, so if any infection symptoms arise, immediate alerting and appropriate treatment are required. Moreover, bleeding tendencies might appear due to vitamin K deficiency, so caution is warranted in case of bleeding symptoms. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if taking allopurinol, probenecid, oral contraceptives, specific antibiotics, or anti-inflammatory medications, it is essential to inform healthcare providers. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been fully established; caution is also needed during breastfeeding. The safety for children, particularly underweight newborns, or infants has not been established, thus requiring special attention. Elderly individuals may experience adverse reactions more easily due to declining bodily functions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted, and careful observation of their condition is necessary. Taking this medication may affect the results of some clinical tests, so caution should be exercised in interpreting test results. Overdose can lead to kidney failure, so strict adherence to the prescribed dosage is necessary, and in injectable forms, intrathecal administration should be avoided, and skin contact should be avoided.
