Precautions

This medication should not be used in specific patients. Patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this medication in the past should not be administered this drug. Additionally, patients allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics should not use this medication. Caution is required for patients when administering this medication. Although it is generally avoided for patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or similar class antibiotics in the past, it can be used under strict caution if absolutely necessary. Moreover, patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those with a family history of asthma, rashes, or urticaria should be administered with caution. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may experience increased blood drug concentration, necessitating dosage reduction and extended intervals. Patients who have difficulty swallowing pills or are in poor nutritional status, the elderly, and those with a poor general health condition should also be carefully monitored, as should those allergic to the Yellow No. 5 dye contained in this drug. This medication can rarely cause serious side effects, so patient conditions should be closely monitored during use. If symptoms such as malaise, oral discomfort, wheezing, dizziness, diarrhea, tinnitus, increased sweating, etc., occur, the medication should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Anaphylaxis symptoms such as breathing difficulties, skin rash, and swelling can occur, necessitating careful observation. If hypersensitivity reactions such as rashes, itching, fever, or swelling occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Diarrhea, abdominal pain, and sometimes severe colitis may occur, requiring cessation of the medication and subsequent treatment. Respiratory symptoms, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, and worsening kidney function can also occur, so regular examinations are necessary. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, this medication should only be used for the minimum duration necessary after conducting susceptibility testing. A thorough interview is needed before administration to reduce the risk of allergic reactions or shock. The capsules and suspension of this medication have different biological activity, so care should be taken not to interchange them. Especially in patients with compromised kidney function, failure to adjust the dosage can lead to seizures. When used in combination with other drugs, attention should be paid to interactions. Using it with anticoagulant warfarin may potentiate its effects, so caution is needed. Also, when used with certain anticonvulsants or diuretics, there may be an increase in nephrotoxicity, necessitating cautious use. Pregnant women or those likely to become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits of treatment clearly outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been fully established. It is advisable to avoid breastfeeding while taking this medication. It is preferable not to use this medication in infants under 6 months old, newborns, or premature infants as safety has not been established. Elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to decreased physical function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted while monitoring their condition closely. Attention should particularly be paid to the tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. This medication may affect the results of certain clinical tests, so it is essential to inform the medical personnel conducting the tests. The suspension of this medication should not be mixed with milk or juice and should not be stored for more than 2 weeks after manufacture. Lastly, there have been reports from animal studies indicating that high-dose administration may affect reproductive function, necessitating caution during clinical use.
