Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It should be administered with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, diabetes, and severe renal impairment. This medication contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause severe allergic reactions or asthma attacks in individuals allergic to sulfites, so caution is advised. During administration, symptoms such as headache, tremor, muscle stiffness, drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, hyperexcitability, insomnia, agitation, numbness in the arms or legs may occur. Cardiovascular symptoms such as palpitations, irregular heartbeat, blood pressure changes, hypertension, and arrhythmias may also occur. If skin rash, itching, angioedema, urticaria, bronchial spasms, hypotension, or collapse symptoms appear, drug usage should be immediately discontinued. Abnormal liver function, general malaise, edema, and gastrointestinal disturbances may rarely occur, so any unusual symptoms should be reported. Overdose can cause cardiac arrhythmias or cardiac arrest, so dosage and administration must be strictly followed. If no effect is observed, the medication may not be suitable, so usage should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Particularly when administering to children, the instructions must be followed accurately and their condition closely monitored. This medication can lower blood potassium levels, and its effects may be exacerbated when used with other drugs, so close attention is required for severe asthma patients. This medication should not be used concurrently with medications like epinephrine or isoproterenol, as it may cause cardiac issues. Additionally, combining it with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants may aggravate vascular side effects, so caution is necessary. Co-administration with non-selective beta-blockers should also be avoided. Patients taking many sympathomimetics should be especially careful when taking this medication. During pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, the safety of this medication has not been established, so women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before use. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so caution should be exercised by reducing the dose. Symptoms of overdose usually disappear after stopping the medication, but cardiac selective beta-blockers can be used as an antidote; however, caution is required in patients with a history of bronchial spasms. Finally, rarely, if any of the ingredients in this medication change, allergic skin reactions may occur, and in patients with specific constitutions, systemic allergic reactions may arise, so caution is advised.
