Reduction of inflammation in arthritis (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid-like arthritis) and bursitis.
This medicine can be used in various ways. Intra-articular injections are used for short-term treatment of several joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid-like arthritis, and acute gouty arthritis. Intramuscular injections are used to improve symptoms in endocrine disorders, rheumatic diseases, skin diseases, allergies, ocular diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and blood disorders when oral administration is difficult. Additionally, intradermal injections are applied for the treatment of lichen planus and alopecia areata. Suitable administration methods can be used for various diseases.
1. Intra-articular, bursal, and tendon sheath injection: As Triamcinolone Acetonide, 2 to 40 mg per dose, typically injected at intervals of more than 2 weeks, adjusting as appropriate. 2. Intramuscular injection: Usually an initial dose of 40 mg is injected deep into the gluteal muscle, adjusting between 20 to 80 mg at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks based on therapeutic effect. 3. Local intradermal injection: The initial dosage varies by disease but to prevent local tissue atrophy, administer between 0.2 to 1 mg per dose, with a maximum of 10 mg each week.
1. Intramuscular injection: Children aged 12 years and older receive the same dosage as adults. Children aged 6 to 12 are recommended an initial dosage of 40 mg adjusted according to age, weight, and symptoms. Children aged 6 and under are not recommended for use.
This medication is in suspension form and should not be used for intravenous injection. Injecting into the epidural or spinal canal is also very dangerous and may cause serious side effects, hence should be avoided. This medication contains benzyl alcohol, which can cause severe respiratory problems in premature infants or neonates. Therefore, it should not be used in such patients. It is safe not to administer this medication to patients who have had allergic reactions to it, those with severe infections, those with certain blood disorders, and those with viral infections such as herpes simplex or varicella. It should also be avoided in cases of joint or bursal infection, in patients with unstable joints, and in neonates or preterm infants. Patients with specific diseases, such as tuberculosis, glaucoma, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, and heart disease, must be very cautious when using this medication, using the minimum dose only when necessary. This medication can cause various side effects including fluid retention, hypertension, muscle weakness, osteoporosis, gastrointestinal disorders, skin problems, neurological and endocrine changes, eye diseases, blood abnormalities, and respiratory issues, therefore symptoms should be closely monitored during use. As this medication suppresses immune function, the risk of infections can increase, and care should be taken to avoid exposure to infections such as varicella or measles, and immediate medical attention should be sought if infection is suspected. Long-term use may lead to adrenal insufficiency, and sudden discontinuation can be hazardous, hence the dosage should be gradually reduced. This medication may interact with various other drugs; hence patients should consult a doctor or pharmacist if they are taking other medications. Women who are pregnant or possibly pregnant should only use it when absolutely necessary, as it may affect the fetus, and it is advisable to avoid using it while breastfeeding. In pediatric patients, side effects such as growth delay can occur, so it should be used cautiously in the minimum effective dose, and elderly patients also require careful monitoring due to the elevated risk of side effects. Finally, this medication should not be administered via specific injection methods such as intravenous injection, intrathecal injection, or epidural injection, and intramuscular injections should be done safely while avoiding nerve or vascular areas.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mouth/eye mucous membranes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme drowsiness, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination.
Muscle pain, joint pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, osteoporosis, spinal compression fractures, delayed healing of fractures, aseptic necrosis of the femoral and humeral heads, pathological fractures of the iliac bone, idiopathic fractures, tendon rupture, gastric perforation, pancreatitis, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, abdominal distension, ulcerative esophagitis, thirst, loss of appetite, increased appetite, dyspepsia, delayed wound healing, epidermal peeling, petechial bleeding, facial flushing.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a container that does not allow light in. Additionally, to maintain the drug's effectiveness, it is advisable to store it at room temperature, that is, in a typical room temperature that is not too hot or cold.
