Antiseptic effect on wounds (lacerations, burns, etc.) and infected skin areas
This medication helps to prevent and sterilize bacterial infections in cuts, burns, and wound areas. It also removes bacteria from areas with pus, such as ulcers or abscesses, preventing the spread of infection. It is used to manage infected skin areas cleanly and safely. It is also effective in removing bacteria from surgical sites and areas of injection and catheter insertion. It contributes to wound healing and infection prevention by being used for disinfection of various wounds and infected areas.
Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area (site of disease) several times a day.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Those who are allergic to this medication or its components should not use it. Individuals with thyroid dysfunction, particularly those with nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis, should avoid this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function and newborns or infants under 6 months should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with herpes dermatitis that causes blisters on the skin or those who are undergoing or have recently undergone radioactive iodine therapy should avoid this medication. When using this medication, caution should be exercised in severe patients, those with a history of thyroid disease, and individuals with renal function problems. This medication can cause allergic reactions, and severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing or skin rashes may occur rarely, so use should be discontinued immediately if such symptoms arise. Pain, itching, rash, redness, dermatitis, or, in severe cases, skin ulcers or contact dermatitis may occur, so caution is advised. Using excessive amounts can lead to electrolyte imbalances or metabolic acidosis and may increase the risk of worsened kidney function. Long-term use may alter thyroid hormone levels, so regular testing is essential. Extensive contact or repeated use over large areas can result in side effects such as a metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensations in the throat or mouth, eye irritation, skin reactions, digestive problems, and difficulty breathing. Care should be taken when using excessively for disinfection; it may lead to iodine toxicity. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication for extended periods or over large areas, as it may affect fetal or neonatal thyroid function, so checking the thyroid function in newborns is recommended. This medication can affect thyroid function tests, so an interval should be maintained before and after the test. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes when using this medication, and if it gets into the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with clean water. Do not mix this medication with other agents, and use it only after cleaning the affected area thoroughly. When storing, avoid direct sunlight and do not store in metal containers. Synthetic resin containers are generally safe, but discoloration may occur. In the event of overdose, symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, and coma may appear; prompt medical attention should be sought.
