Improvement of encephalopathy due to acute and chronic liver dysfunction and amino acid supplementation effects.
This medication helps improve encephalopathy caused by acute and chronic liver dysfunction. It also provides the amino acids necessary for patients with liver diseases, supporting overall liver function recovery. Through this, it effectively enhances patients' health conditions.
Administer 500 to 1000 mL by drip infusion. The infusion rate should be based on 180 to 300 minutes per 500 mL (approximately 40 to 50 drops per minute). When administered centrally, mix 500 to 1000 mL with dextrose solutions and continuously infuse it into the central vein over 24 hours.
This medication should only be used according to a doctor's instructions. Do not use in patients with severe renal impairment or elevated nitrogen levels in the blood. In addition to liver dysfunction, avoid administering to patients with issues in amino acid metabolism. Patients with metabolic disorders affecting nitrogen utilization should not use this medication. Patients with weakened heart function due to debilitative heart failure or pulmonary edema should not be administered this drug. Patients with oliguria or anuria should also avoid using this medication. Do not administer to patients with blood acidosis or those with excessive hydration in the body. Careful use is required in patients with congestive heart failure, severe heart failure, edema due to sodium retention, and those with renal dysfunction. This drug contains sodium bisulfite, which can trigger allergic reactions, particularly in asthmatic patients, leading to potential asthma attacks. If any hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes occur during use, administration should be stopped immediately. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or vomiting may occasionally occur. Cardiovascular symptoms such as chest discomfort, palpitations, rapid heartbeat, and increased blood pressure may also occur periodically. Rapid and large doses may result in acidosis due to blood becoming acidified. Symptoms such as chills, fever, headache, dyspnea, respiratory arrest, shock, bronchospasm, and urinary tract spasm may occasionally occur. Metabolic disturbances such as metabolic acidosis, hypophosphatemia, alkalosis, hyperglycemia, diabetes, dehydration, reactive hypoglycemia, elevated liver enzymes, vitamin deficiencies or excesses, electrolyte imbalances, and pediatric hyperammonemia may occur. In patients with renal failure, an increase in blood BUN levels may occur, and serum ammonia levels may vary according to treatment effects. Rarely, severe immune reactions such as anaphylactic shock have been reported after administration of this drug. When administering large doses or using it with other fluids containing electrolytes, care should be taken regarding electrolyte balance. Overdosage may lead to metabolic alkalosis; therefore, formulations containing acetate ions should be used with caution. In patients with a history of kidney disease, lung disease, or heart disease, care should be taken to avoid fluid overload during administration. Patients with diabetes should monitor their blood sugar levels frequently while using this drug. When used with tetracycline antibiotics, the protein-sparing effect of this drug may be reduced. Its safety has not been established in pregnant women, so it should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. In children, liver function may be immature, so it is advisable to maintain a lower administration concentration and frequently check blood ammonia levels. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function; therefore, administration speed should be slow, and doses reduced as necessary. This medication contains electrolytes, so care should be taken regarding electrolyte balance during large doses and it should be administered slowly intravenously. Rapid infusion can cause chills and vomiting and may increase the loss of amino acids through the kidneys. Before use, it is recommended to warm the drug to body temperature, and to maintain strict aseptic conditions during preparation and management of injection materials. Before administration, ensure that the solution is completely clear, and do not use it if cloudy or discolored.
Hives (including rash as a hypersensitivity reaction), dyspnea, respiratory arrest, shock, bronchospasm, anaphylactic shock, severe edema accompanied by increased blood pressure (caution in edema patients), asthma attacks.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air or moisture from entering. It is advisable to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius to preserve the drug's effectiveness long-term.
