How it is given

Adult administration

As a total amino acid, administer 1.5 g per kg of body weight per day as the maximum dose (equivalent to 2100 mL per day for a 70 kg person) via intravenous drip. Administer at a rate of 1.7 to 2.1 mL per kg of body weight over a duration of 60 minutes (40 to 50 drops per minute for a 70 kg person).

Precautions

This medication must be used strictly according to the physician's instructions. Patients with severe renal impairment or high blood nitrogen levels should not use this medication. Patients with liver dysfunction or problems in amino acid metabolism should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with metabolic disorders that interfere with nitrogen utilization, those with severely compromised cardiac function, and patients with pulmonary edema should not receive this medication. Patients with very low or no urine output, and those with high blood sodium and chloride levels should also avoid using this medication. This medication is contraindicated for patients with issues in cardiac electrical signal transmission or severe muscle weakness. Patients with excessive body water should not receive this medication. Use with caution in patients with severe acidosis, heart failure, edema, hyperkalemia, and renal dysfunction. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions, such as skin rashes, may occur upon using this medication, so it must be discontinued immediately if symptoms develop. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or vomiting, rapid or irregular heartbeats, and increased blood pressure may occur. Rapid infusion of large volumes can lead to acidosis, so caution is advised. Serious side effects such as chills, fever, headache, respiratory distress, and shock may occur; therefore, any unusual symptoms must be promptly reported to healthcare professionals. If magnesium components are included, peripheral vessels may dilate, leading to decreased blood pressure. Metabolic disorders such as metabolic acidosis, hypophosphatemia, alkalosis, elevated blood sugar, and dehydration are possible. Patients with liver or renal dysfunction may have changes in blood test values, thus requiring regular tests. Care should be taken regarding electrolyte balance during high-dose administration, and patients with kidney or heart disease should avoid excessive body water. Diabetes patients should frequently monitor their blood sugar levels, and those with electrolyte imbalances must carefully manage dosage and fluid balance. Caution is required when using other medications, particularly certain antibiotics. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used carefully when necessary. Children and elderly patients have different bodily functions, thus careful adjustments to dose and rate of administration are needed. This medication should be administered slowly intravenously, as rapid injection may cause side effects. Maintain aseptic conditions during administration, and do not use if the solution is discolored or cloudy.
