Dosage

Syrup formulation: 15mL [750mg (strength)] should be administered orally 3 times a day. Cream, gel formulation: Apply an appropriate amount gently to the affected area 3 to 4 times a day. If dressing is to be done, it is preferable to reduce the frequency to 1 to 2 times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to fusidic acid or its salts. It is also advisable to avoid administration in patients with certain Staphylococcal infections of the urinary tract or in those with severely impaired liver function. During administration, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and abdominal pain may occur, so caution is necessary. It is advisable to have regular blood tests as the blood cell count may decrease or bone marrow function may be suppressed. If symptoms of liver dysfunction, such as jaundice or elevated bilirubin levels, occur, administration should be discontinued immediately. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may rarely occur, so consult medical personnel immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is recommended to perform susceptibility testing and to use only for the minimum necessary duration. In cases of high doses or prolonged use, and for patients with impaired liver function, regular liver function tests should be performed. Neonates and premature infants have immature liver function, so particular caution is required when using this drug. When combined with other antibiotics, careful consideration of potential interactions is necessary. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use this medication only when it is determined that the benefits outweigh the risks. During breastfeeding, this medication may be excreted in breast milk, so breastfeeding should be paused, and the decision to use the medication should be made cautiously. In cases of overdose, symptoms of liver dysfunction, jaundice, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea may appear, and treatment should be administered according to the symptoms. This medication is sensitive to direct sunlight and heat, so care should be taken during storage, and the suspension should be shaken well before use. For topical cream or gel forms, avoid applying around the eyes of the face, and refrain from using for extended periods or on large areas. If allergic symptoms such as skin itching, redness, or swelling occur with topical use, stop use immediately and consult medical personnel. Pregnant or nursing individuals should use with caution, especially in premature or neonatal cases, due to the risk of liver dysfunction.
