Precautions
This medication may worsen kidney function in patients with severely impaired renal function and can lead to serious side effects due to improper excretion of the drug. It should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or other platinum-based medications. Patients with severely impaired liver function or very reduced bone marrow function may also be at risk when using this medication. Patients with hearing problems may experience further hearing loss as a result of this medication, therefore it should not be administered. Patients with a history of neurotoxic effects from this drug, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and lactating women should not use this drug. This drug is also not recommended for patients with acute infections. Patients with mild renal or liver function impairment, reduced bone marrow function, infections, chickenpox, elderly patients, children, and those using it for extended periods should proceed with caution as serious adverse reactions may occur, and their condition should be closely monitored. This drug can cause respiratory issues like dyspnea or pneumonia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, stomatitis, abdominal pain, and various gastrointestinal symptoms, so symptoms should be reported immediately. Regular blood tests and kidney function tests are necessary as it can harm the kidneys, and if abnormalities are detected, administration may be discontinued. Blood cell counts may decrease requiring frequent blood tests, and auditory disturbances such as hearing loss or tinnitus should be monitored closely. If allergic reactions or shock symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Various severe side effects like neurological symptoms, liver function abnormalities, heart problems, and visual disturbances may occur, so regular examinations and close monitoring under the direction of a physician are necessary. This drug causes symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite in almost all patients, so patient conditions must be checked and appropriate measures taken. During treatment, frequent blood testing and liver and kidney function tests should be conducted to detect and respond to adverse reactions early. Given that auditory impairment may frequently occur with this drug, additional caution is warranted especially when administering it to children. This drug may affect reproductive ability, so male patients are advised to consult about sperm preservation before treatment. This medication should be used only under the supervision of an oncologist, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must use effective contraception during and for a certain period after administration. When used together with other chemotherapeutics, certain antibiotics, or diuretics, side effects may worsen; therefore, dosage adjustments should be discussed with a physician. Care should be taken to prevent the drug from leaking out of the blood vessel during administration, and if it comes into contact with skin or mucous membranes, it should be washed off immediately. This drug can decompose when exposed to light, so direct sunlight should be avoided, and it should be used as soon as possible after dilution. In cases of overdose, kidney damage, hearing loss, severe vomiting, and neurological damage may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment. This medication can harm the fetus during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be suspended if the patient is nursing. Particular caution should be exercised when administering this drug to children or the elderly due to their reduced physiological functioning.
