This medication is a sedative-hypnotic and may cause impaired wakefulness after administration, which can make activities such as driving or engaging in complex behaviors very dangerous, as the patient may not remember these actions. Caution should be exercised if this medication is taken with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants, as the risk of such behaviors may be increased. During treatment with this medication, swelling may occur in the tongue, vocal cords, larynx, as well as serious allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing, nausea, and vomiting, requiring immediate cessation of use and emergency treatment. It should not be administered to patients with acute glaucoma, severe myasthenia gravis, sleep apnea syndrome, serious liver or respiratory diseases, alcohol or drug dependence, and to children. It should be administered with caution to patients with pulmonary heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart disorders, liver or kidney disorders, organic brain disorders, ataxia, the elderly, debilitated patients, and those with alcohol or other drug addictions. Prolonged use of this medication may lead to dependence, and abrupt discontinuation can cause withdrawal symptoms, hence it should be tapered off gradually. While taking this medication, patients should be aware that various neurological side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, memory impairment, anxiety, and headaches may occur. It may affect multiple organs including blood, liver, heart, gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory system, so any unusual symptoms should prompt consultation with a physician. Patients should avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery during treatment with this medication, and care should be taken when used in patients with psychosis or depression. Drug interactions may occur if taken with other central nervous system depressants or specific medications, so it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should not use this medication, and it is also advisable to avoid it while breastfeeding. Elderly patients, in particular, should be started on a lower dose due to the ease of experiencing side effects such as ataxia.
