Precautions

This medication can disrupt the balance of normal bacteria in the oral cavity, so long-term use should be avoided. People who have had allergic reactions to this medication should not use it. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in individuals with asthma or allergic diseases or with a family history of these conditions. Coloration in the mouth or an increase in calculus may occur, and there may be changes in sensation. In particular, children's oral mucosa may become peeled or slightly irritated. Rarely, severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur; if symptoms like nausea, sweating, dizziness, or difficulty breathing appear, use should be stopped immediately and medical treatment obtained. If skin rashes or hives develop, use should be stopped immediately. Some users may experience temporary sialadenitis. Antibiotics should be used for common bacterial infections, and this medication is generally not used for more than 10 days. In cases where both gingivitis and periodontitis are present, the effectiveness of periodontitis treatment should not be judged solely based on the gingivitis condition after treatment with this medication. Coloration may occur on oral surfaces such as teeth, prostheses, and the back of the tongue. Individuals using rough or cracked prostheses should use caution as staining may worsen, and if staining is undesirable, it is better not to use it. In pregnant individuals, it should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks; in breastfeeding individuals, caution is advised as the drug may pass into breast milk. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years old have not been sufficiently established, thus caution is needed when used. This medication should only be used in the mouth and must never be used for ingestion. Store out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place.
